Geiger Bot is a companion app designed for use with Geiger counters, offering a comprehensive toolkit for recording, mapping, analyzing, and sharing data collected by Geiger counters.

Users can benefit from features such as a numerical display compatible with analog counters, mapping capabilities, graphing options, detailed logging functionality suitable for digital counters, and seamless online data sharing via Cosm (Pachube).

Upon launching Geiger Bot, the app seamlessly begins functioning without the need for extensive configuration in most cases. Utilizing adaptive signal processing and the microphone input of your device, Geiger Bot delivers reliable performance. Moreover, it supports direct line-in connections through the headset jack for enhanced signal accuracy.

For optimal precision, it is suggested to position the Geiger counter's speaker close to your device's microphone. Strong signals from the counter's speaker have more significance than background noise.

In addition to its core functionality, Geiger Bot now offers experimental support for scintillation counters and gamma spectroscopy, complete with isotope ID lists. This feature aligns with popular Windows programs like PRA and FitzPeaks.

Advanced users have the option to fine-tune the audio engine parameters for signal processing through Geiger Bot. The app includes a console providing detailed status messages to aid in troubleshooting. You can customize parameters such as tube offset counts, conversion factors, measurement time intervals, radiation alarms, and more.

Geiger Bot enables extensive data logging directly to your device's internal memory and allows you to export it as a CSV file attached to an email. The app supports data logging with high resolution down to 1-second intervals, facilitating detailed radiation data analysis through spreadsheet software. Specifically on iOS devices using apps like Numbers, users can conduct thorough analysis and graphing entirely on their devices.

The mapping module integrated into Geiger Bot offers a visually intuitive way to display logged data with a false-color palette that accentuates radiation intensity levels reminiscent of a thermal camera.

Furthermore, Geiger Bot provides access to preloaded mapping databases including Safecast.org (featuring extensive ground vehicle surveys, primarily in Japan), US DOE/NNSA aerial gamma ray surveys of Japan, USGS NURE aerial gamma ray surveys of the continental US, and the US EPA uranium mines database. These databases can be viewed concurrently within the app.
